Our Executive Team is seeking a self-starter with superior multi-tasking and relationship building skills to direct the Council’s human resources related activities. These activities include benefits and compensation, recruitment and retention, performance management and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
This position is located at our Administrative Headquarters in Lake Worth.
What other fun & exciting things will you be doing?
  • Ensuring the Council’s human resources policies and programs are in compliance with the law; following sound business practices, and best human resources management practices. Making recommendations for policy improvements in order to meet organizational needs as necessary.
  • Administering the hiring process of the organization, including job posting (internal and external), preliminary interviews, reference and criminal pre-employment checks, pre- and post-employment processing and ensuring that equal employment opportunity policies and procedures are followed. 
  • Handling all progressive disciplinary actions, making recommendations in collaboration with department directors for carrying out those actions, and handling all terminations of employment as necessary.
  • Providing objective and confidential counsel to all levels of staff, making recommendations for guidance if necessary and assisting in resolution as needed.
  • Recommending and managing requests for staff development; creating and implementing opportunities for staff growth and development such as workshops, retreats and outside learning opportunities.
  • Developing and recommending employee practices and programs necessary to support positive employer/employee relationships and promoting a high level of employee engagement. 
  • Administering the Human Resources portion of Paylocity, maintaining records, tracking and analyzing confidential personnel information, and updating personnel files and process employee benefits.
  • Implementing and maintaining the performance management system to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization.
  • Administering benefits programs and wellness efforts, working with the CEO and CFO to analyze the effectiveness of those programs, and making recommendations for enhancements or changes which align with the organization’s budget, goals, and strategic plan.
  • Monitoring all pay practices and systems for effectiveness and cost containment, and making recommendations as necessary.
  • Verifying benefits invoices for accuracy and processing for payment.
  • Initiating the new employee onboarding process by making necessary revisions to meet the needs of staff and conducting orientations for new employees to familiarize them with human resource policies, employee benefits, payroll schedules and other matters related to their employee status.
  • Keeping the CEO and Senior Leadership Team informed of significant concerns that jeopardize the achievement of the Council’s goals, and those that are not being addressed adequately at the line management level.
  • Ensuring Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scouts message of pluralism and diversity to members of the Council.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
 
Who are we seeking?
  • An individual with a demonstrated commitment to Volunteer Systems (Salesforce) and to the Council’s business processes as applicable to this specific position description and plan of work.
  • A superior communicator with the ability to communicate complete and complex information clearly, both verbally and in writing with customers, volunteers, vendors, peers, colleagues and the general public to ensure the delivery of service excellence.
  • A candidate with demonstrated effective conflict resolution skills.
  • An individual with the ability to perform tasks that involve exertion of light physical activity which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (20-25 pounds).
  • A reliable candidate with a dependable vehicle and a valid Florida State driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and eligibility for coverage under any applicable agency insurance.
  • An individual willing to travel to a variety of locations within GSSEF’s jurisdiction.
  • A trustworthy candidate with the ability to maintain absolute confidentiality.
  • An organized individual that can plan and prioritize work, while managing multiple deadlines.
  • A focused candidate with the ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • An experienced professional with the ability to use sound judgment in decision-making, while demonstrating a strong ability to work as a team.
  • A candidate that understands and accepts the Girl Scout Promise, Law, beliefs and principles.
  • An individual able to work the following schedule: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, with many additional hours weekly, including evenings and weekends.
 
What else will you need?        
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources management or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in all disciplines of human resources.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to deliver service excellence.
