About Us

Javier Fernandez founded his full-service interior design firm Transitional Designs in 2003 and has since worked on a multitude of design projects in New York, New Jersey, Florida and beyond. Javier creates polished, timeless interiors that are as beautiful as they are functional. His design style is transitional, blending clean lines, sleek profiles, and a more modern aesthetic with traditional details.
Today, central to his design ethos, is that every client's needs are as nuanced and unique as the individuals themselves. This is matched with his firm's belief that everything is possible, a recipe for success that has led him to design homes and commercial spaces that surpass the client's design visions and goals.
Javier was born in Cuba before emigrating to the United States. He and his wife and business partner, Maritza travel between their homes in New York and Florida. Transitional Designs' work has been featured in shelter and lifestyle outlets including Veranda.com, Galerie.com, HGTV blogs, Bergen Magazine, 201 Magazine, VUE and others. Javier was participated in the prestigious Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach 2020, The Hampton Designer Showhouse 2020 and The Inaugural Holiday House Tabletop Show in Palm Beach 2023.
