About Us

Save the Chimps is one of the largest chimpanzee sanctuaries in the world, providing life-long refuge and exemplary care to over 200 chimpanzees rescued from research laboratories, the pet trade, and entertainment industry.
The chimps live in large family groups on 12 separate 3-acre islands and enjoy nutritious meals, expert veterinary care, enrichment, and socialization. Most of our residents previously lived alone, confined to small cages for years or even decades. At Save the Chimps, residents can roam, visit with friends, bask in the sun, or curl up in the shade. These freedoms provide them with the dignified and peaceful retirement they have always deserved.
Save the Chimps relies on private donations and is a registered 501(c)(3). EIN: 65-0789748
